What’s Their Motivation?: Why 23 members of the 24-year-old American Theater Company ensemble walked

Chicago Reader: "Late last month, after 23 of 28 American Theater Company ensemble members—including three founders—announced their mass departure to form a new theater, citing “administrative and artistic differences,” ATC’s artistic director PJ Paparelli offered an explanation of his own."

wow. I'm sure that this article is biasedly written, but it's hard to believe that people (the AD) could act liek that. He came into an old company with people who had been there for years, and tried to change it overnight. Even if he was hired to create change and get the theatre back to its mission, it must happen slowly so the ensemble doesn't walk. He took away what seems to be the core of the company and their values and tried to create what he wanted. That's not what ensemble theatre is about.
