Rent brings ‘La Vie Boheme’ to Pittsburgh
The Tartan Online: "Rent is not your average musical, at least not in the sense that the word “musical” typically implies. While there were costumes, the clothes were ones that you would expect to see on someone stuck in the ’90s."

I saw this production this past week and was so glad that I saw it on its farewell tour. Even though my seat was just a few rows from the back wall of the third tier, the energy of Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal, especially, was very readable from such a difference.
There has been some question recently over whether or not RENT is still a relevant show. To which I say, YES, especially seeing this tour. Seeing such a show at my age now, versus when I was in middle school, had many different connotations. I read the show much more differently and found parts that were more relevant now than they were before. While some may still disagree, I still think it's great that so many people are getting to see this on tour. And, that more people will get to experience it in a different way by performing and working on their own productions, since the rights are now out. I just hope the new lower-end productions can produce as good results.
