I always find rapid prototyping to be a fascinating process since it really does have a feel of something from nothing. What I didn't know was that their were multiple ways of going about the 3D printing process. The most fascinating one to watch was the one that appeared to be nothing but a combination of light and some form of liquid. I'm really surprised that this kind of technology hasn't entered further into theater since it would greatly speed up the props process.
