IATSE signs up stage workers

Variety: "Backstage workers at producing org NETworks Presentations have unionized. New members of IATSE unions include stagehands, wardrobe, hair and makeup workers on the current road tours of 'Sweeney Todd,' 'The Drowsy Chaperone,' 'Hairspray,' 'The Wizard of Oz' and 'Annie.'"

This might be good news, but isn't very clear. The way the article makes it sound, the big motivation behind the contract was IA wanting to expand its territory. It doesn't mention how working conditions were previously, or if workers advocated for unionization.

In our current state, this was most likely a smart move due to the new gained straight that the workers will have with the union behind them.
