Courant.com: "OSHA conducted a preliminary investigation, but determined it does not have jurisdiction because the incident did not involve an employer-employee relationship, Kowalski said."
I am deeply sorry an unfortunate accident had to happen. I am truly and profoundly sorry for their loss for the loved ones and hope they can ease their grief soon.
In this article and another article about the accident in Yale, I don't quite understand what happened by then. It was likely something has not been taken care of, so that plywood fell down. The fatal accident happens in theatre every several years. It seems to remind us “Be careful!” Although we often say "That's fine." actually it would not be fine. A little more care does not take much time. We should work safely.
shipping plywood vertically in a truck? not only is it safer (as seen here) but it's much easier to ship it horizontally, laying it down on the truck bed.
sounds like a ratchet strap failed or something proping the plywood up got moved...
I find it ridiculous that OSHA has no jurisdiction over educational settings. We operate here with student labor performing the same jobs professionals are outside of the school, but because the students aren't employees they shouldn't be protected. I guess that degree is worth a lot. Without it we're not worth protecting according to OSHA.
wow they would reference facebook. i mean it is reliable but a journalist looking up facebook for reference? however my prayers go out to the family of Pierre-Andre Salim. I hope this serves as a reminder to us all to not let our precious time go to waste and act rationally.
Thanks a lot for a bunch of good tips. I look forward to reading more on the topic in the future. Keep up the good work! This blog is going to be great resource. Love reading it. ................................ essay term paper-Essay Writing Help
