Stage Review: 'Plaid Tidings' adds holiday harmony to fun musical

Post Gazette:

"Looking for a way to ease yourself into the holiday spirit? A Christmas show that's seasonal without being syrupy? Something clean and wholesome enough for the whole family that won't put the grown-ups to sleep?"

I really wonder if this show deserves the review it got. I've never seen either, but from the description, it sounds like you would really go see the show to hear the guys sing. Every time the review had something negative to say, the author was just like, "it's cool, they can sing, whatever". It doesn't really inspire confidence in the show.

I had thought it'd be an interesting show at my first look at the picture; particularly the color is so bright. Plus among the guys behind the red fabric, there are only two real people. After paying more attention, I started to wonder what this show, entertaining the whole family and would not have the adults asleep, would be. At least, it doesn't attract me so far. As I know, acrobat is able to entertain audience from 5 years old to 99 years old, plus Blue Man. Then, what else will it be?

I would want to see this show just for its "Tribute to the Ed Sullivan Show in 3 minutes and 11 seconds" but other than that it unfortunately seems more spectacle that theatrical. And we all know of the problem of the non-silent falling snow.

I think I saw the poster in the lobby.... It just seems like some of the reviews we read are pretty...bland... there is nothing wrong with going to see a performance just to hear people sing, but that should not be an excuse for a bad presentation. I might as well just go to a vocal recital. Oh well...I don't particularly have an intrest to see it even if they can/cant sing/perform

This sounds like a fun alternative to the nutcracker or a Christmas Carol. I can't imagine there is much to the plot, but its Christmas so there isn't one really needed.

This could either go really well, or fall like sandbags off the grid. I like the idea of the show, but the execution would make or break this show in the run. I don't want to see another bad Christmas show, we have plenty. Good luck to them and I hope it goes well, but until I see a good review, ill stay home.
