Console Training at LDI
Live Design: "This course is designed for experienced grandMA programmers or system engineers who wish to take their knowledge of all things grandMA to the next level. It's an opportunity to get intensive instruction on advanced console functions such as time code and bitmap effects, as well as increase your knowledge of networking and other system design and management issues. Participants are encouraged to bring their personal application-specific and project-related questions and issues, which will be addressed by experts in the field."

Mmm...I wish I was going to LDI. Though the grandMA course is too advanced for me now, I'd really be interested in the EOS and LightPalette training though.
It says, about the EOS that "Everything from high schools to Broadway theatres have embraced this flagship console from ETC." I can't imagine that High Schools could afford it.
But as it's the new great console which I've only seen twice, I'd really like to get a chance to learn it. And it would be interesting to actually be taught a console as opposed to just figuring things out as I go. LDI is going to be fun next year :)
Yes, I wish I was going to LDI too. In education wise, I wonder sometimes whether learning to specialize in one thing is good, or learning everything which will benefit us in the long run is good. Personally, I tend to go with learning to be really good in a specialised field. Doing something unrelated takes time away from what I could have been making my craft better. But that's just me.
But I guess there is really no win-win situation, but best to go with individuals how they can accept and adapt to the education taught?
I'm glad to see they are offering some training this time...when I went my junior year of high school, it was really annoying to see all these boards that were new to me and having them explained in quick detail to me and then only getting about a minute to play with whatever WYSIWYG rig they had setup before being shoved aside or peppered with swag. Don't get me wrong... I love swag and all, but I really just wanted to get more acquainted with the boards.
Board workshops are something I really would love to attend. I'm fascinated by the ways different boards work and how crazy the output can be with such simple, or what seems to be simple, input. I wish I had the time (and money) to go to LDI , USITT, and PQ type things all the time. It's a great way to stay in touch with what's going on though the content isn't always "brand new."
