Broadway, TV Actors Languish in Strike Limbo

Backstage: "Actors on both coasts were dealt an unprecedented blow this week when two strikes by nonperformer unions effectively shut down much of Broadway and Hollywood. Television actors had already been rocked by the Writers Guild of America strike, which has cost hundreds of actors and crew members their jobs as shows stopped production for lack of scripts. However, New York actors lost another major source of income when most Broadway shows, including The Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables, went dark due to the stagehands' mass walkout Nov. 10. As of press time, neither work stoppage appeared close to being resolved."
