baltimoresun.com: "For Mel Brooks, it was Anything Goes. For director Robert Longbottom it was No, No Nanette. For songwriter Stephen Schwartz it was the short-lived Shinbone Alley. And for me, it was Carnival.
For many children, musicals aren't merely entertainment, they're the embodiment of a yearning that can last - and shape - a lifetime. Even now, these theater artists get a wistful tone in their voices when they recall those early, eye-popping experiences."

My first musical was Phantom of the Opera - when I was about 10 or so years old. I originally didn't even want to go to it. However, the moment I left that theatre I found myself not only in love with the Phantom but *SPOILER*... pissed off that Christine left him in the end! I felt this need to see the show again, that instant. That started my downward spiral into my love for musical. I grabbed a copy of the CD on our way out and I've been a musical lover since... usually my car is stocked with all sorts of showtunes. They're the best kind of music! =D
Musicals are still my favorite part of theatre/performance peices. I find them extremely fun to not only work on but to design for.
