Van Parking

Due to “Bill Gates” construction resulting in the temporary but extended loss of the “Lower Purnell Lot,” we are trying to keep both of our vehicles in the Purnell loading dock.

Naturally, there are occasions when this is not possible (the presence of a strike dumpster, for instance, or the unauthorized occupation of the dock by various contractors, delivery people, Warner Hall Permit-holders who can’t find a space and (yes, I’m afraid so) Faculty and students.

In the event that the dock is fully occupied, it is NOT acceptable to park the Minivan in a Warner Hall Lot space, as we originally thought. You may park there temporarily (twenty minutes or so) with your four-way flashers on, while you are loading or unloading. If the dock hasn’t cleared within the twenty minutes, you MUST move the Minivan to the Morewood Lot, across Forbes Ave.

It is also NOT a good idea to park the Minivan overnight in front of our compactor, as this would prevent the truck that empties the compactor from accomplishing its goal, and we would be charged anyway for the attempt.

Yes, this is a nuisance, but keep in mind that you are responsible for any parking citations that are issued to the Minivan when you are the last driver to sign it out.

When you DO park the Minivan at Morewood, please put it at the far end, in the row of spaces near the Cyert Center Playground. This area is usually not filled up, and it makes it easier for subsequent drivers to find the Van.
