Its an interesting idea - a road show for new theatre products. Since its hosted by their distributers, it probably doesn't cost anything much above marketing costs, maybe salary and travel expenses for a technician or sales rep. Even if it only ends up selling a handful of spotlights its probably a pretty successful thing.
It is like door to door salesmen. I would ratehr just wait to USITT to see new products. Most theaters and organizations have been on that "wait for USITT" pattern, so I suppose that this company is gettign a leg up. It will be really annoying if everyone does this.
I actually saw the new fixture at USITT this past year. It is ridiculously bright! It was, as their website claims, much lighter and simpler to use. There are a number of other features that I appreciated as a person who has had to operate a spot many many times.
