My 5 Best Organizing Tricks

lifehack.org: "These were how I navigated the last several days, successfully conducted a 2 day unconference (not counting the help of a team of other dedicated people), attended and made good use of a major technology conference, and worked on dozens of projects over the last few days to meet deadlines."

This is a problem I have been struggling with, and I am still. The problem is whether I work better with electronic organization or pen and paper style. I think that this system (the write it down and then electroni-cize it) is what made me realize that I am a pen-and-paper kind of girl. Its like doing the work twice. If you are going to write it down, write it directly into a PDA or some such device. If you are going to write it down on paper and keep it there, then have a place where you do that and do it. It doesn't make sense to me to copy the information twice. I'm still looking for a solution to this problem if anyone has any advice, by the way.

I think the pen-and-paper idea is the way to go. Electronic data scares me...a lot...because with my luck, the item will crash or decide it hates me and stop working...then I've lost oodles of work and time trying to replenish it. Paper doesn't decide it doesn't want to work at any give moment, its just there, clean and ready to be written on. Why does everyone have to be so connected all the time. What a relief to not have to check your email every five seconds. And now, we're adding note-taking to the electronic world? Lets try and still remember those good ol' days when writing was a fact of life. I love it, and I'll never change.

i agree with a lot of these ideas.
the putting into smaller boxes tip, works well because when you have a lot of things to do its nice to separate things and look at the smaller picture first so you dont get overwhelmed.

im a big fan of post it notes, if i have an idea i can just jot it down and file it. i even have a post it notes program for my desktop, so i use the pen and paper way and the electronic way
