Six Women Allege Physical, Emotional Abuse at Dream Theatre Company

www.clydefitchreport.com: Amidst increasingly widespread allegations of sexual misconduct in the performing arts, six Chicago-based actresses report an extensive pattern of verbal and physical abuse by Jeremy Menekseoglu, artistic director of the Dream Theatre Company (DTC), a small non-Equity company which recently relocated to the Atlanta area from Chicago.

It is always a mixed reaction from me when I see these articles. On one hand, I am glad that people are speaking up and being heard, but on the other hand it is so disappointing to see another addition to the copious amounts of allegations in our industry. I will continue to hope that those responsible for misconduct in this industry do have to pay the price, and that the victims of this misconduct will get a little bit of justice. I also hope that all of those who are accused go through due process and nothing is assumed as true until investigated, but I am very happy to see survivors being believed and taken seriously about these allegations about things that have happened to them. I hope that the more people come forward the more we can do to prevent things like this continuing to happen in the theatre industry.
