Adam Savage Learns About Creature Prop Restoration

makezine.com: One can only imagine how on-the-fly movie making is, how props, animatronic creatures, costumes, and sets are only made to be held together long enough for their close-ups. We all know the many stories of famous vehicles, spaceships, and other movie props that ended up tossed onto junk heaps, re-furbed and reused in other productions, or scavenged for parts.

Ever since Adam savage came to our campus I have always enjoyed keeping up on his website. He seems to be keeping himself busy with many different fields and manages to bring his audience humor and entertainment.

Prop artistry is truly an amazing art that takes years of experience and far more patience and time than I am willing to give. Prop restoration, in particular, is one of my favorite because it shows just how talented people are. Being able to have an item and know exactly what the end goal should look like give a very clear framework and vision. Prop Restoration in the CMU shop is definitely one of my favorite processes to watch. Not only can you see the history of these items but you can also make them your own at the same time by using new techniques and strategies to rebuild them.

I look forward to seeing more of the Tested series and the next avenue Adam takes.
