This seems like a great opportunity to work around industry professionals as well as save money by not having to pay to attend USITT if you work 15 hours! I'm not sure how I would be able to get out of classes that week to attend though. The Young Designers and Young Technicians' Forums also sound like a great opportunity to showcase one's skills and get your name out there where everyone will get to know your work.

I was able to take advantage of USITT's Elite Training Weekend with Cirque du Soleil, Stage Technologies, Meyer Sound, and a few other equipment companies this past May. It was a great learning experience, and it was a lot of fun to meet dedicated theatre students from other universities. I would advise all of my friends to take advantage of any of these USITT opportunities at some point while we're in school. These opportunities are great ways to meet people working in the industry and start making connections. I am thinking about applying to the SM or PM forums. As a Sophomore, my chances of getting it are not great, but I figure there's no reason not to try. These opportunities are provided for us as USITT Student Members so I may as well use take advantage of them.
