This guide is a good start to identifying risks in electrical work and how to work safely with electricity. I feel like it's something we all could use a refresher on, as we tend to take for granted that extensions cords/outlets will work as intended and that things will go as planned. This guide points out what to look for to identify potentially unsafe situations. We need to know what precautions to take when dealing with electricity and how to keep from getting injured by an electrical discharge.

This would be good required reading for many students. Those of us who have done this kind of work for a fair bit of time should look at it even more carefully. It really helps to review basics with tools, electricity and materials lest we get careless. Many of us have seen the injuries or incurred the injuries but even then that healthy respect for the forces we work with fades over time which can be very hazardous. Also keeping current on safety should be a top priority for all in the entertainment industry because we have a tendency to get stuck in our ways which can cause us to get ourselves or others seriously injured.

This is great information to have via computer. It is much more convenient to have this information on my iPhone, or iPad, or any other smart product while working opposed to some big thick packet of black text. It is also a great piece of information to read every semester, or more, just to refresh yourself on all the information it entails. I am much more likely to keep up with a file opposed to packet of paper. Yay technology!

These sort of resources are great to have access to. It is important for electricians or people who are working in areas that have to do with wiring and electrics to be well informed about proper safety precautions to take. A lot of electricians tend to look over some of the recommended safety precaution books and tips created that would really aid them if taken advantage of. It is better to be safe than sorry!

People just working at home don't usually take into account things like safety from electricity. This is a very well thought out very helpful guide for anyone who is doing any project near electrical lines or with electricity. Any beginner in theatre who wants to work as a technician should definitely read over this especially if their workplace hasn't given proper training on safety. As will pointed out this guide gives really good pointers on identifying unsafe situations and potentially dangerous conditions.

It's good to see safety information disseminated in this form from a reliable source. Too often I hear the attitude that because they are not fully qualified adults, they should not inform themselves about safety. The argument is that if they know enough to think they are being safe, but not enough to actually do the job fully, they are even more of a danger by virtue of their confidence. While I can recall some anecdotal examples of this, I think on the whole young people are often the people unaccustomed to bad work habits, and as such can improve safety by questioning the practices of seasoned adults. Overall, I think materials like this guide help overall safety and are a good way to involve younger folks in the work they do.

Given the various situations that students find themselves in when it comes to projects, it's good to see that someone is trying to make it a little safer for those who want to try something and know nothing of what is and is not safe in what they are trying. I am somewhat surprised that nothing like this has existed previously since while a lot of what we do in theater if done wrong is dangerous, electrical stuff can lead to far more catastrophic problems.
