Fairly basic tips, but good all the same. The most helpful one is the main one--if you regularly update your resume you will remember more things and be much less stressed when it matters.

Rachel is right these are basic tips but good things to keep in mind when going back to your resume to clean it up or update it. I know especially since I've been in school for the past two years that I haven't looked at my resume in a while and I tend to forget that I do need to update it more often. Even more portfolio needs a good update of all the things I've been doing lately. So it's a nice little reminder of the things we all should remember when delving back in our resume. Pretty helpful.

I did like his tip on regularly updating it. I often have trouble remembering things like the dates i worked on a job. I do disagree about putting workshops on a reume. If it really was important or a specialty workshop, put it in your skills section. I feel like the other tips are pretty basic.

The tip on regularly updating your resume is what made this article worthwhile for me. I have more than one resume, as probably most of us do, because different resume formats and focuses serve different purposes. Until last spring when I was applying for summer work I didn't realize how frustrating it can be to have three different resumes that are all out-of-date to some degree. Updating regularly also helps with the author's first point about keeping track of where you've been and what you've done. It's easy to lose track of the right names and information that will be necessary to make a short-term event seem important on your resume. These tips all serve as good reminders of little ways that we can help ourselves be prepared foe that last-minute/unexpected interview.

After enough tips and tricks on resumes, it's nice to see a quick list that does not stray too far from the basics and actually includes a line or two saying that the most important part of having a resume it keeping it up to date so that it is actually useful. I know that the part I hate most about my resume is the actively updating it since while I may already have one, it's only as useful as what my last major job was.

I find that rather than updating my resume often, it its better to update a list or database with what you have done. This way you can focus on getting the information down without spending the time on a regular basis to worry about things like formatting and what info to include.

This also will help for other items like a CV should that ever be needed.

This is a great lesson to keep in mind. Oftentimes I forget to update my rseume, always thinking I will do it later, and then finding myself forgetting all the details I needed to include. It is important to remember that resumes are always changing and growing and to not forget to put important new information on them to keep them up to date. Some of these tips are really great to keep in mind, particularly the one about thinking beyond work, something many people don't do when updating their resume.

These are some great reminder tips of why you should constantly be updating your resume. These tips are good reminders as I am beginning to reformat my resume. I hope I can update it from this point more frequently and with better changes. Starting some sort of CV like document might help with this as well.

I agree with previous commenters that the most worthwhile component of this article is to update your resume regularly. I'll be honest and say that part of the reason I read this article was so that I could read the comments and see what others had to say relating the rather generic resume tips to the theatre. I've found both the article itself and the comments written to be very helpful. Thanks!
