I think the most interesting part of this movie is its promotion. The first previews were all geared to create a heightened sense of intensity and emotion. They wanted you to expect a strong, intense film. Soon after, however, new trailers and commercials popped up and they were nothing but interviews and discussion talking about how the families of the 911 victims wanted this movie to be made. The studios only made the movie because the families were down on their knees, begging them too. This movie is for the good of Billy Joe in Tennessee, having nothing to do with the studio's capitalistic goals.

It was a very interesting strategy. My initial reaction to those first trailers was, along with many others, "too much, too soon, too exploitive". The second round of promotion clearly addressed this concern as straightforwardly as possible. It was a very interesting tactic. While I’m still not sure if it won me over, at least they realized it was a concern and addressed it.

YOU KNOW, THE END RESULT IS A LWAYS MONEY! don't get me wrong, this movie may be a vivid reminder of how naive our country can be. we need to not forget what happened so that it may never happen again. I also cannot gauge whether or not this movie was acting on self promotion or if they actually cared. it has been stated that ONLY 10% of the ticket sales will be donated. Come on now! Aren't the people that died worth mor than 10%!! I think this is embarrassing.

America has a new obsession with making movies about current events. The war on terror and the war in Iraq are just about the first wars to be interpreted through television and film while they are still active.

In the past movies have been either looking back at an event as a documentary, or if they are running parrallel to the event (such as Casablanca) they are used as propoganda. It would be interesting to see these movies just to observe what kind of political spin is put on them, or to see if they are trying to be objective.
