This is pretty cool, but I think only really practical as compared to alternatives when the application fills certain parameters. First, the working space is actually very small, only nine inches or so. This would mean that any projects cut on this machine would need to be small, or at least made of small pieces that the machine could cut within the space constraints. Second, the setup of the machine is fairly involved, so it rules out any “small craft” projects where the machine would get very little use- as a cheaper alternative, it still doesn’t make laser cutting practical for at-home or very occasional usage. It needs a ventilation system, and a five gallon bucket? Not something I would be putting in my house unless I planned on using it absolutely all the time for a professional use- and in that case I would probably consider a larger and more comprehensive machine.
