17 Kick-Ass Event Planning Blogs
blog.planningpod.com: We love providing great, useful content for event professionals here at the Convene @ Planning Pod (as well as creating useful event management applications and tools), but we also love reading what other insightful industry gurus have to say. A great thing about our industry is how open people are and how willing they are to share, and it shows in the quality of the event management blogs and resources that are freely provided.

This seems like the kind of article my mother should check out. She is the training and development for imagineering and I can totally picture her enjoying this. And maybe it would help her out. She always rants about her meeting and how there are times she has to plan certain events to happen. She always has to make sure conferences fit in everyones schedule and is about to make this as organized as possible. Even in every day life my mother is an event planner. She has a great attention to detail and always wants to make sure everything is perfect. It's great that this article shows that there are many different ways to organize and plan events. So if one doesn't work then my mother will have plenty to choose from. And if I ever have to plan certain events in the future I can always relate back to this article.
My comment is going to echo Hannah’s in that this is completely an article I’m going to suggest to my mother, she has such skill for event planning, but is often at a loss on where to start or the exact things she needs for the project. When planning things on such a large scale it can be easy to become overwhelmed by the scope of the project and even easier to drop out of it. I appreciate that this was posted to the Real World blog because some of the ideas these blogs have can be totally applicable to the work we do as professionals. It’s important that we have an understanding of the work that goes into the events that many of us one day hope to participate in, not only so that we are prepared when it comes time to do our part, but also that we know exactly how much we need to contribute to and organizing team. Understanding ones role is half the battle in the entertainment industry and that not just limited to event planning.
I think that it is great that a website that usually is the one to help people plan their events is also promoting other websites that have useful tips. The list was also well written giving useful synopsis of what one might find useful on each of the sites as well as a lot of diversity in which sights were chosen. Event planning can be trying and there is no one proper way to do it that works for every one, having a resource of tips coming from people using several different methods is in valuable. A lot of the blogs mentioned here also cover different types of events and meeting as well as which is great for those who are looking for advice specific to one type of gathering. The blog that was specifically geared towards convention planning was especially interesting because while I see a lot of tips for planning meetings and shows, convention management is still rather murky to me.
