Sundance Institute and Women in Film Release Unprecedented Study on Women Directors
Women and Hollywood: This morning, here in Sundance, a new ground breaking study of women directors "Exploring the Barriers and Opportunities for Independent Women Filmmakers" was released. The study is the most comprehensive look to date examining the gender disparity women directors face in the film industry.

This article wasn't too much of a surprise. If someone were to ask me to list who my favorite directors were, I know the list doesn't include any women. They are a rarity in this industry, and well the article pointed that out, it didn't give any solutions for how to fix that. Spotting the issue is only half of dealing with a problem. It's a closed door industry that isn't very good with change. If anything is ever going to happen, women are going to have to work their buts off to be a cut above the rest and them maybe they'll be on equal ground.
