For spring break I went to New York, and while there I saw "The Importance of Being Earnest". I love this show and also this production of this show. I have never seen it before or seen any other Oscar Wilde plays, but I have read some of his books. This play, although somewhat dated, captures all of Wilde's biting whit and just general silliness. Also Brian Bedford is hilarious, and it almost seems like the role was written for him. While in the theater I over heard two ladies talking and they said that he got the role because he was complaining to someone that he had played every role that he would mean anything to him and so someone said how about "Lady Bracknell"? And the next day Bedford showed up in drag at the theater. I am glad that they are broadcasting this; it is hilarious, and very well done.
