'Addams Family' headed our way in 2012

Post Gazette: "'The Addams Family' will haunt the Benedum Center next summer as part of the PNC Broadway Across America -- Pittsburgh series, in cooperation with the Pittsburgh CLO.
Pittsburgh CLO and the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust helped to put the musical comedy on the map as founding members of Five Cent Productions, a producing partner in Elephant Eye Theatrical, a production company formed in 2006 to create new musicals for Broadway. 'The Addams Family' recently became one of a select few recent shows with original music to break the one-year barrier on Broadway.

Alright so from my friends who have a stricter view of the quality of theatre, I have heard that this is an awful show. But I have not been convinced, because I still think that it could be a lot of fun. First of all it would just be cool to see Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth onstage together. Secondly, I always loved the Addams Family. I understand that some people could just see this as another fluff piece and that is fine. I like to see shows that are just for pure entertainment value and that is as well as those shows that have a deeply rooted and metaphorical meaning. I think part of the point of theatre is to make your audience enjoy the show, and it doesnt always have to be some incredibly deep thing, it could be just something to make them smile.
