'Absinthe' aims to restore decadence, danger with circus, burlesque blend

ReviewJournal.com: "The circus never left town for Ross Mollison. When it tried, he followed.
'I personally have always been into clowns and comedy and circus. My neighbors when I was a kid were the greatest stalkers of circus in Australia. They knew everyone, and they'd take me along,' he says.

I've said it before and I will continue saying it: Anything that takes a current theatrical convention (in this case, Cirque) and tries to simplify it enough to turn it onto its ear, I support. I think this is a FANTASTIC idea. This kind of show is exactly what I think of when I think, "circus" and even though the aim of Cirque originally was to challenge the stereotype of what a circus can be, it has become the norm: Flashy. Expensive. Perfect. I have to seriously admire any performers and/or production that wants to challenge that.
