Nell Scovell on David Letterman

vanityfair.com: "At this moment, there are more females serving on the United States Supreme Court than there are writing for Late Show with David Letterman, The Jay Leno Show, and The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien combined. Out of the 50 or so comedy writers working on these programs, exactly zero are women. It would be funny if it weren’t true."

I thought this article had some pretty good insight into the situation of the lack of female writers. I wish it would have offered more suggestions, but I was very intrigued by the description of the workplace in the beginning, how the second-hand effects of work relationships can have a big impact. The most important thing I got out of this article was a reinforcement of relevance of some themes that are present in How to Succeed. I wondered about its relevance to the modern world, but the issues of sexism brought up in it are clearly still an issue, although in a slightly different way.
