Prior to this article I had never heard of LinkedIn before. Given that it's one of the older ones, I was surprised I hadn't heard of it given that it's something that I think every freelancer should know about. I can't recall a time when while on an over hire or free lance job I didn't find myself involved in a conversation about how it would be really awesome if there was a site that kept track of who/what was hiring in an area for you. Turns out there is I guess.
I too have never heard of this website before, though I think that it is a very good idea. Although you could do the same type of thing on one of the more prominent social networking sites such as facebook, it is incredibly helpful to have one dedicated to the purpose of creating connections with people within the industry.
