PSO musicians approve 3-year contract

PostGazette: "Musicians of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra ratified a three-year contract yesterday that calls for a modest raise in salaries and includes language for such issues as keeping the number of musicians at 99. The agreement came in time for the gala concert last night that welcomes the orchestra's new music director, Manfred Honeck."

After a year of some turbulence with labor relations in the industry, it's good news to hear a contract being settled so uneventfully. I'm surprised they get $1,000 per concert recording, I'm glad some of the money from that revenue stream does go to the musicians.

Holy crap musicians make a lot of money. They also have a lot of high maintenance rules regarding calls, what is provided, and what they can and cannot do. I don't want to hear another musician complaining, they are already making twice what the sound guy is.
