Striking writers, studios head for renewed talks

Reuters: "Striking Hollywood writers will meet face to face with studio executives this week for the first time since their contract talks collapsed on Dec. 7, people familiar with the matter said on Tuesday."

This is starting to look like it may not be resolved any time soon. I was hoping that the writers strike would follow like the stage union strike with a temporary deal that would bring Hollywood back into harmony. Reading this makes me think that talks will be going on for a very long time and I'm sad to say I'm taking sides with the writers.

Yay John Wells!

This strike has way, way, way more reach than Local 1 did. This is going to take ages. There's just too much profit at stake, and the studios are pretty much unlikely to buckle unless the strike lasts longer.

Although, now that football season is more or less done, maybe something will happen.
