I actually liked this article because it gave me some background on where some of the "Sweeney" stuff came from. For example I was completely unaware f the fact that the original London production was done with almost no money, and because of that fact, provided for the incorporation of the actors playing their own instruments as well as singing their parts. This provided some insight for me into how the musical evolved into the musical theatre icon that it is today.
I find it interesting that the London Original was done in this way. It would be interesting to see how having the actors play their own instruments alters the production.
When I first heard about how all the actors played their own insturments, I thought it was really cool. However, the more I hear it talked about, the more unsure I am as to whether it's cool or just silly and gimmicky. Guess I'll have to see the show to find out.
