Patrick Stewart - Macbeth
New York Times: "THE first reinvention of the British actor Patrick Stewart was so counterintuitive as to seem perverse. For nearly 20 years he had been a stalwart of the Royal Shakespeare Company; suddenly, in 1987, he was the captain of a spaceship on an American television series, acting alongside a gold-tinted android and a large hairy Klingon."

I love Patrick Stewart. I had no idea he was that old though. 67? He seem so well preserved. I love that he and Ian McKellen are all-around actors that alwasy maintaint their classic dignity, even when acting in comic-book movies (they're at least half the reason X-Men did so well). I really hope some of these performances will be immortalized in some form. I hope there is at least one crappy bootleg of these classic actors performing Shakespeare out there.
Patrick Stewart is such a class act. Such a compelling actor, he actually makes it okay for me to admit that I'm interested in watching Star Trek, just to reflect on the evolution of Science-Fiction television. It's also comforting to know that he didn't get sucked into the Hollywood game and was never seen on stage again.
(Side Note: I especially dig the picture on the second page of the article, holding a weapon AND flexing his bicep. Real subtle.)
