Prolific designer sets the scene on O'Reilly stage

Post Gazette: "There are a lot of surprises in talking with James Noone, set designer for the Public Theater's 'Amadeus,' now in previews.
To start, he doesn't much like scenery, in spite of having created some of the Public's most splendid designs. 'I'm not very fond of scenery,' he says. 'I like dramatic space.'"

I really appreciated this article. I love the rare glimpses at successful theatrical (and of course particularly scenic) designers. Mr. Noone seems to bring a lot to the table, ripe with interesting designs for broadway and pittsburgh public alike as well as challenges for his students. It is great to hear that Pittsburgh Public is such a collaborative, supportive environment.

James Noone seems to be a VERY confident and established designer. I find his concept of scene design interesting and agreeable. It really is about taking the space and creating a design that works for both the plot and the actors.
I would be curious to find out why his models cost thoasands of dollars...
