Happy Days, Beckett

New York Times: "The director Deborah Warner had seen her share of boring productions of Samuel Beckett’s “Happy Days,” and during bleak winter days at the end of 2006, she became worried that she was making one herself. Like Winnie, the chattering protagonist of this 1961 drama, who is gradually being buried alive, Ms. Warner, along with her longtime collaborator, the actress Fiona Shaw, felt stuck."
