Understanding Islam: Steve Moore's latest play makes a pilgrimage to the truth of a misunderstood faith
The Austin Chronicle Arts: "For some 225 years, this country never felt any pressing need to think about Islam, much less comprehend it. Sure, it rose from the same soil as the faiths embraced by most Americans, its roots inextricably entwined with Judaism and Christianity, but hey, as long as it was embraced by less than 1% of the populace, the vast majority of us didn't have to give it any more serious thought than we did, say, Buddhism or Unitarianism."

I agree completely with the author in the sense that many of our ideas about Islam are based on preconceptions and prejudices. After the terrorist attacks it was too easy to condemn the whole religion but no one took the time to investigate and research about it. It took more effort to reflect on the issue and talk to non-fanatic Muslins to understand the real thoughts of this religion.
We musn´t forget a literal interpretation of the Bible, for instance, can lead to misconceptions about the Christian religion we all know are not true anymore. Therefore, if we are flexible with the interpretation of the Bible, so must we be with other religions´ believes.
