Touring Tips

Backstage: "One of the highest-paying jobs a professional terp can get these days is as a backup dancer for a major recording artist on a concert tour. If you manage your time and assets wisely, you can earn $50,000 to $100,000 a year dancing for a top pop singer. But how do you get these jobs? And how does a dancer survive what may be months, or even years, on the road with a show?"

Working in a roadhouse before, I love seeing the interaction between the road crew and the cast with the house crew. The family like relationship is a great thing to have on tour, but sometimes can be hard to work to work with being the outsider. When the production is tiny, and you work with the same 4 guys and dance with the same 10 people, you become tight. I do enjoy that the dancers realize that they need to respect the crew. That always warms my heart to see dancers have thier favorite crew member. It's kinda cute.
