Ten Ways To Tell If Someone Is Lying To You

lifehack.org: "Wouldn’t be useful to know who is lying to you. How would you trust a person - only if the person wouldn’t lie to you. “The truth is out there” - (insert X-Files theme song) - see, human love to know the truth."

Lying is a part of being human. It is a defense mechanism to protect your own feelings and relationships. However, if found out, it is potentially fatal to relationships. I'm very sensitie to how people approach me and how they communicate with me. Fabrication, or embellishment of information isn't as harmful as outright lying and I feel like I can handle it better. Catching people in lies makes me angry and sad, but at the same time, I have to realize that everyone does it. And we will all get over it eventually.

Of course you ALWAYS know they are lying if they say:

"We're a little behind, but we think we'll be ok."

This article is dissapointingly vague. The advice is: if it seems like they're lying, they might be lying. DUH!! It would be great to get a bit more detail regarding the subject. What type of body language should you look for? What type of inflections should you listen for? This article was a total tease.

I totally agree with Joel on this one. Thanks to this artcile for stating the complete obvious. It's like listening to Dr Phil; a psychologist whose daily revelations involve telling a sobbing guest that he can 'sense' that somthing's wrong... good eye.

I think some people are really good at lying. They know all the tricks not to be caught and I can bet the author of the article would never find them lying.
Only because of this talent, they should never be blamed (it the lie is not against you, of course ;)

The ability for someone to lie and get away with it I find is one of the most valuable traits that someone could posess. My personal favorite AWFUL lying tactic is in response to a question, one would say "oh, dont worry about it." A statement like that flares up my interest in why someone else is filtering what I am interested in.
