Paramount’s peerless production of ‘Cabaret’ is a luscious, lurid, luminary look at love and the rise of the Third Reich

www.chicagolandmusicaltheatre.com: “There was a cabaret and there was a master of ceremonies and there was a city called Berlin in a country called Germany. It was the end of the world…and I was dancing with Sally Bowles and we were both fast asleep”

Writers feel a certain sense of duty in a dangerous time. We look on, and desperately believe that words can stop the world from destroying itself. It’s no wonder then, that in response to the current looming specter, when literal Nazis march the streets once again and the petulance of cruel men riding a wave of bastardized populism threatens to turn the Earth into a graveyard, that so many theatres are putting on Cabaret.

I’m in Awe simply from the pictures. No need for the words in the article as the pictures will leave you speechless. However, the article mentions some things that are interesting like why Cabaret is popping up everywhere so suddenly. It does leave to wonder why but for the most part it talks about this production of it. It looks phenomenal. A very well-designed show. I want to go out and see this production right now. The scenery is beautiful and accurate. The lights are just right for the scenes. The emotions from the combination are at just the right intensity. The performers look amazingly dressed and well suited for the characters. An exciting show all the way around. There is a photo that shows a fair amount of the set and it just has me astonished. I want to see more of it and can’t keep my eyes off the wonderful use of practicals, arrangement, and this tri-level configuration. It must have taken a lot of work to create but was well worth it.
