Without a play, an empty theatre is just a building

Guardian Unlimited: "A proposed levy on tickets to invest public money in London's decaying West End theatres should really be spent on what goes on stage instead"

this is an interesting argument. the relevance of a theatre space only really comes into existence when there is something to be staged... it is however, unfair to say that one part of the theatre needs more monetary attention than the other, i'd say that if both have some benefits then both will see the pay offs. it allows each staff to not have to work soo hard, the show will look as good as it can in a space conducive to nice theatre and the theatre will be a nice place for the actual show to be put on its feet, either wway the production value is increased.

Yi-Lin: The old theatre's space and equipments probably might not fit today’s production, and it would be very expensive to fix it. For government, it's easier to spend money on which could bring credit. However, it is still possible to put on simple production in the old theatre. It would be just a question if people want to do it.
