Throughout this interview between the leading actress, Evangeline Lilly and BackstageOL, one of the main questions asked for Lilly was, what were the positive and negative aspects of her costume, and she said one of the worst things about her costume was having to get help to get in and out of her suit to do daily things like going to the bathroom. She then added that she is a very independent person and it "made me feel like I was three years old again." However, something she did say positive about the suit was it made her feel "modern and strong and sexy". When creating a costume you're analyzing and creating a character to make it come to life. In many various forms of theatre, costumes can be used as a way to express the visuals of a time period or genre of theatre. In this production, however, given the modern time period and a superhero genre, leading women characters are used to express gender equality through their costumes and action stunts. Having the costume the way it is in the production expresses how women and men are the same. Altogether the interview between Lilly and BackstageOL introduced the importance of costumes and their connection to real-world circumstances.
