New Hit Musical Features White Woman, White Cast Singing 'Slave Songs'

thegrapevine.theroot.com: As further proof of the gentrifying instinct of Caucasity knows no bounds, a new theater presentation featuring “slave songs” sang by an all-white cast, backed by an all-white band and led by a white director has quickly become the biggest hit at the largest jazz festival in the world.

White people have no right and no place to claim anything Black and African-American people created during slavery. The oppressed have no right to profit off of those whom they oppressed. This is not diversity or representation- there are no Black or African-American people. It is a gross example of frankly, stealing and exploitation. They have no right to sing and make money off the songs the slaves sang. White people owned them. This makes me incredibly frustrated. Why are people in privilege allowed and think it's appropriate to exploit the minorities they historically oppressed and killed? And why in the world do white people get to say if that is offensive or not to those minority communities? It is not “woke” to further oppress. This is anything but respect and diversity. How in any way is this considered as diversity? You are all white! My favorite quote from this article is as follows: “Lepuke and Bonnyasshole are soul-sucking, culture-vulture, cheese-curd-looking, succubuslike, vanilla dingleberries who want to profit off the fact that people who looked like them kidnapped whole human beings and sold them, and now they think it’s OK to profit from that legacy of evil by auctioning off the history and culture of those people.”
