How Do I Deal With Harassment at My New TV Writing Job?

www.vulture.com: I’ve been pinching myself because I can’t believe how lucky I am to have landed my dream job: staff writer on a TV show. The only problem is that almost immediately, an older, senior writer pulled me aside to tell me that I didn’t deserve the job, and that he had been rooting for someone else to get it.

I am not entirely sure that this blog post truly fully expands on the heart of the issue. The idea of an abusive culture in Hollywood resonates but how does that effect the rest of the nation and how might that effect the youth of the nation. If our standards are so low that emotional and physical abuse can pass for comedy, then what makes us so much better than those who do jail time for their crimes against society? Overall I think the heart of the issue isn't confined to one man harassing one person, it expands to how harassment effects the nation. And while I think it's great that your mentor bailed you out, I feel like that did not necessarily get the point you meant to across. You can't expect someone to have your side every time. Especially not in this culture but you can look for people to rely on in your times of need.
