Podcast Episode 87 - Six-Time Tony Award-Winning Producer, Richard Frankel

The Producer's Perspective: When I was building my business, I looked around at other Broadway production companies to get ideas for the type of company that I wanted to have . . . from the products they produced, to the structure of the company, to the people and the partners.

And I always came back to Richard Frankel.

Having a successful Broadway production business is not something that is easy to start and or maintain. The amount of moving parts and different components involved makes it very easy to take a wrong turn. Hearing how someone else was able to do it and do it well is truly inspirational. Hearing all the tricks that were learned along the way like how a small investor is better than a big or even how he was taken under peoples wings and how that was a key part in finding success. It was all these different components that added up to make Mr. Frankel what he is to today, every decision that he made was another piece to the puzzle that lead him to getting 6 tony awards. I think the most interesting part of the article is how much observation goes into the start of a business. Figuring out what Broadway needs is not an easy task but once you have captured that you are one step closer to the money.
