The themed entertainment association is certainly headed in interesting directions and apparently one of them happens to be the arctic circle. If there is an art to themed entertainment that rivals its need to tell a story it is the need to take our minds to fantastic places where those stories can come from our imagination as well as from the world around us. Creating environments of extremes but without the hassle or frankly just dismal weather associated with those extremes is one of the most interesting avenues for themed entertainment. Star Wars does an excellent job transporting us to the hostile environment of space and across a massive if imaginary distance through its excellent use of the screen. In themed environments however you don’t get to cheat like that. Your audience has to be physically there in the world of star wars and they’d better not be able to see how it works.
