Hamilton facing backlash after casting call asks for "non-white men and women"
Lainey Gossip Entertainment Update: You know how, when everyone really likes a thing, someone gets jealous or sick of how well that thing is doing, and there’s a backlash? Jennifer Lawrence, Scandal, Paleo? Well, someone decided it was time for a Hamilton backlash—except they really picked the wrong battle.

I think that this issue is ridiculous. The fact that even Actors Equity weighed in on this issue on the side of the complaint is a bit sickening. I would think that those within the theatre community would be more accepting of such an amazing show and the diversity it includes. The whole point of the show is that non white people play most of the main characters. I’m sorry if you are white and want to play a part in Hamilton, but until it goes on tour (and probably not even then) or when it moves onto high schools (which you can’t be apart of) the only part in the show you can play is King George. Which is the point of the show. Looking through all of this week’s articles, this subject definitely made a substantial portion of them, which really shows how big of a kerfuffle this is. The fact that Broadway’s favorite show has even the smallest of scandals causes it to get blown out of proportion precisely because everyone loves it.
