I’m sorry, but this article is a complete load of fecal matter derived from bovine. He measured the board and used a tape measure to find the center. That’s math. The article might have said, “How to Find Measurements Without Calculations” rather than without math. After watching the video, I think that the instructions are also missing a crucial step in saying that when you measure the 40” across the board, it must be a complete line from one side of the board to the other. The same result could be achieved by using a piece of string to measure the length of the board and fold that in half, or thirds and get results truly without doing math. Aside from using various methods of dividing a board without making any calculations, you should be able to divide 37 5/8” in half. If my contractor couldn’t divide 37 5/8” in half, I’d fire him. I would be concerned that they couldn’t do the job.
