You gotta love a well organized room. Especially tool rooms that have multiples of everything so you can get really aesthetically pleasing lineup of similar objects right next to each other. It’s really a shame that more tool rooms or grip trucks aren't well organized because the top of the article is true- nothing can calm you down when your stressed than easily finding the tool you needed. At the very least a clean tool room can never stress you out more than the current situation. Maintaining a clean tool room is another challenge all together. The second everything is organized someone will inevitably come in and need twenty tools, leaving the room in disarray. It’s a shame that so may people leave tool rooms a mess because they probably don't realize it’s only increasing the stress levels of every already stressed person who just needs to find that one tool that is buried under four other things that you have to stand onto of a box and cable to reach. I wish we were as clean and organized as these grip trucks.

There are really two elements to this article and both are very soothing and calming. The main attraction is the beautifully organized trailers. I like having things organized myself but I cannot always keep everything as organized as I want. I have a lot of respect for those who can keep all their tools, supplies, and gear so organized and maybe one day when I have the space I will be able to do the same. I also really loved the quotes that accompanied the pictures. I did not totally see a connection between the pictures and the quotes but I can’t complain. I am a big fan on quotes like this. They inspire me and give me ideas about different things that I think about often. Some of the ones here are just fun quotes that make me smile while some are pretty powerful and really make me think. Sometimes I spend more time than I should on the internet looking at inspirational things and I have to say this article with the beautiful pictures and even more beautiful quotes is one of the best inspirational pages I have seen.

This article reminds me of my dream, my goal in life, my purpose for being. I dream of a time in which everyone who works in a communal area is capable of reading and obeying labels. That is literally all it takes to keep a place clean. literacy is a skill we all have, but for some reason, when we step into the hardware or tool room, we all become blundering idiots who can't possibly locate the correct container even though there is an easily identifiable system and LABELS on everything. These trucks all have one thing in common, the crates, shelves, and spaces are all labeled. The grips read the labels, they put the thing in correct area. Bing bam boom, the space is clean. Now, why can't we do that with our communal areas here? The hardware room has one of the best organizational systems I have ever seen. everything belongs in a certain order in a certain place. Maintaining this system makes finding the right bolt a quick and easy task. So, why do we abuse this system? why do we scatter our leftovers upon the floor? Feel free to clutter your personal space (I know I do), your desk, your room, as long as its operational for you, its fine. But communal spaces, in which your are not the only person working, those are sacred. Keep it clean, read the labels.

So. Much. Diamond. Plating. (That’s what this article should really be called). My inner Militaristic OCD did get very excited looking at all of these well-organized trucks. If only life could be that organized, how wonderful that would be. Though, in all seriousness, from looking at these pictures I did notice one common theme- the key to organization is having multitude of standardized receptacles. The cleanest and most crisp of the trucks shown all include bins or boxes that are the same in style, with a slight variance on size or color. It’s as if sameness equates to orderliness.

When I think about the cluttered and disastrously unorganized workspaces in my life, I immediately think of the PTM office. From desk to desk, there are several commonalities at each person’s space, but no one seems to have (or utilize effectively) any desktop organizers or desire for minimalism. Things just seem to pile up at the fringes of peoples desk and never make the journey back to their rightful home. Part of the problem may also be accompanied by the lack of rightful homes from the start. Then the stacks of mislabeled and sharpie-ridden boxes on the shelves only add to the visual clutter and disorder. Maybe one day the PTM office can look as slick as one of these trucks!

Ok, so a lot of those quotes are a little heavy handed considering the content of the article, but regardless I think that this is really cool. There’s just something that feels rewarding when you look at something that’s pristinely organized or efficient. It reminds me of a different video I saw today called “the world’s most satisfying video” where clips of efficient processes are compiled together into a montage. These pictures and that video have made me curious as to how much humans enjoy efficiency and organization on such a basic level. It also fascinates me how people avoid organization despite that rudimentary enjoyment they can get from it. But certainly, knowing how to pack a truck in an efficient and organized way is a valuable skill for those who want to go into our business, and these images very much give us a benchmark to which we can set our goals.

I really enjoyed the inspirational quotes. Damn, those trucks are organized. I don’t have much knowledge of the film and TV world, so I don’t know if this is the norm or not. Regardless, it is great to see technicians who care about organizing their equipment. Looking at these pictures makes me wonder if these trucks are standalone or part of a large fleet. It would be interesting to see these trucks contrasted with those of touring concerts and other shows. In those cases, truck space is used very efficiently, since trucks are expensive. Organization is such an integral part of the entertainment industry. It is so necessary because we make use of a wide variety of equipment, and being able to find and implement something at a moment’s notice can save a show. Like the previous commenters here, I will echo that it is very pleasing to look at photos of organized spaces. It just feels so calm. I’m sure these trucks are anything but during a load-in, though.
