This article surprises me for two reasons. For one, I was not aware that the MacArthur Foundation awarded so-called "genius grants" to organizations. Prior to reading this article, was under the impression that the only recipients of these grants were individuals. Moving on to the second surprise of this article, the Red Orchid Theater came as a bit of a breath of fresh air. Reading the blurb about its history, I found myself rooting for this small, relatively young theater company. The Red orchid Theater professes to cater to and employ those with "...the firm belief that live theatre is the greatest sustenance for the human spirit and that passionately committed productions will draw passionately committed audiences." In the modern day of an entertainment industry in flux, and the internet taking over everything in sight, and Artificial Intelligence going the way that it is (your toaster will probably kill you some day, and the refrigerator will take care of your spouse)it's really nice to see a group of individuals so committed to a cause such as the one detailed in the Red Orchid's mission statement. In summary, bravo, Red Orchid, Bravo.
