7 Things You Need to Know About Event Production

LinkedIn: You’d be wrong in thinking event production meant planning weddings and birthdays, or building physical stages in a venue and thinking about the sound equipment to go with them, because it’s not.

Event production is about more than just event planning.

This article is pretty spot on.
While it is true that event production is basically just planning one party after the other, often we are talking about some "party" that is for guests you've never met before.

Event production is somewhat of an art form in of its own. It requires being able to foresee into the future and anticipate the weather. It's being able to convince caterers to give you more food than agreed upon because more people showed up than expected. It also means making a warehouse look like a playboy club in only a day and a half.

Event planning requires someone who not only can successfully navigate the minefield that is human relations and peoples emotions all while maintaining a strictly organized schedule in their head and plans on how to transform the dance floor into a boxing ring by next week.

Really a great article that is actually very informative.
