Video: Real time 3D face mapping is so frighteningly awesome
sploid.gizmodo.com: I'm both completely terrified and absolutely impressed by this amazing real-time face tracking and 3D projection mapping system that can digitally impose masks onto people's faces. It works amazingly well, like their faces have been completely replaced with new ones.

I have watched a few other real time face-mapping videos similar to this one before, and they always impress me. What intrigues me most about this technology is that often times, the real face of the individual being projected onto is never shown. The "bare" face that we see in videos such as these is usually also a projection. I bet this technology will become extremely popular with performers at concerts, especially EDM/techno type music. For instance, it'd be awesome to see a performer on those huge screens on either side of the stage covered in weird designs, lyrics, or different mask forms. There are so many opportunities for real time 3D face mapping to be used that I highly doubt it will be swept under the rug in the future. Also, amusement parks like Disneyland/world could use this to put a Darth Vader mask on little kids, or something cute like that.
