Going into this year after the summer's Tony Awards, it was really exciting to see how many alumni won or were nominated. Patina's performance at Subresh's inauguration was wonderful and I really appreciate that she performed at it. If she's anything like Billy Porter, I'm sure she's very generous with her time and wisdom. I'm really glad that she associates so strongly with CMU; some successful professionals tend to not mention their roots once they hit it big but many CMU people seem to be really proud of their education.
It is really nice to see an alumni doing so well for themselves. She is really the epitome of what Carnegie Mellon University preaches about. They want you to be well versed in everything and while she was playing the lead role that won her a Tony, she booked a job for the last two films of Hunger Games. She is doing everything. Hopefully when she decides to take a break from theatre and comes back to do a master class, I would ask her how she deals with all that stress. When does she sleep and work out because she is in great shape
Patina Miller is a goddess. That's all. The first time I saw her perform was actually at the tony awards when Sister Act performed "Raise Your voice". I was shocked by her talent and her regal stage presence. It is so crazy to think that she attended Carnegie Mellon, where I am currently a freshman Design and Production major. It's stories like hers that make me look around at the company of talented student I am surrounded by and makes me so happy that all these actors, MTs, Designers, and Directors have so much to aspire to. I hope that during my four years here at Carnegie, I'll be able to meet Patina Miller as a visitor or speaker and just take in the glory she has established.
