Prelite Studios Helps Lighting Designer Bob Barnhart Envision Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show

The Wire on SVConline: Preparations for Super Bowl XLVIII’s Halftime Show began early and for lighting designer Bob Barnhart they involved using Prelite Studios’ previsualization services to get a jump on working with the actual lighting rig on site at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.

Watching the super bowl this year was an awe-inspiring experience. Not for the game or for the commercials, but for the halftime show. The sheer magnitude of the effects on display was staggering to even those without a working knowledge of technical theatre. In particular, the hundreds of moving lights all choreographed perfectly to the music was enough to make my friends and I cheer more than we ever would for the actual game. The awful weather surrounding the stadium at the time also make the task of teching such an overwhelming show that much more difficult. As shows get more and more light-heavy, it seems like pre-visualization studios like Prelite will be a boon to designers everywhere.
